¿Qué atrevido?

Why this name? Because it perfectly describes both the olive oil and this project: bold and daring,

In November 2024, I drove a car filled with cases of fresh, unfiltered olive oil from Spain to the Netherlands. Somewhere in the middle of France, I was stopped by the police - they thought my car looked suspiciously heavy. After an hour-long search, and finding nothing but olive oil, they finally let me go.

But how did this all begin?

I had been living in Spain for about four years before meeting Albert and Montse, who have a beautiful olive grove near Tarragona. They use regenerative farming practices and a modern mill to produce truly exceptional olive oil.

They told me how hard it is to compete with the big olive oil companies. Large producers blend and mislabel their oils to keep prices low, while distributors and retailers abroad add high margins to exceptional oils, making truly good-quality olive oil far too expensive.

But during my visit, they also explained that in the first weeks of the harvest, people from the area come to the mill to buy fresh, unfiltered oil - cloudy, powerful, and intense in flavor. They produce only a limited amount each year, and apart from the mill itself, it isn’t sold anywhere else.

Anyway, long story short: it took some work, but I eventually convinced them to let me take a small amount and share it with friends and family in the Netherlands - and that’s how I ended up driving from Spain to Holland two months later.

What began as literally hand-delivering bottles to friends and family has now become a small project, together with Albert and Montse.

I still only have a limited amount - we simply don’t make that much - of fresh, unfiltered olive oil for a short time each year. But now we can ship it straight to people’s homes, right after it’s pressed, during the first few weeks of the harvest.

If you’ve never tried it, Atrevido is high-quality, fresh, unfiltered olive oil with an aroma full of nuance and a soft yet characterful taste. You’ll notice notes of tomato, fresh-cut grass, and artichoke, with hints of almond and apple. A subtle bitterness and peppery finish add depth and complexity - a truly unique seasonal product.
